Or Sinai’s drama ‘Anna’ won the first place in the Cinéfondation student film competition in Cannes while Asaph Polonsky won a Critics’ Week award for his comedy-drama ‘One Week and a Day’. Both films feature Evgenia Dudina as main actress.

Sinai, who graduated from the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School in Jerusalem, depicts a day in the life of ‘Anna’ on a hot summer day. When the divorcee finds herself without her son for the first time, she yearns to being recognized as woman again. She dresses up and goes for a walk around her town, desperately longing for a man to touch her.

The 24-minute long film beat 19 finalists. Or Sinai is awarded with €15,000 and a guarantee that her first feature-length film, when completed, will be screened at the festival.
