The northern part of Israel is urgently suffering due to many fires in the region since Tuesday. What may have started as a dry fire has now flipped into a state of emergency in Israel. Families have lost their homes and belongings, and over 60,000 people have been evacuated from Haifa, the well-known port city. Residents and visitors need to leave their homes, schools, offices and comfort, and are seeking refuge.
As of this writing, about 30 light injuries have been reported. The Israeli fire department is working tirelessly to put an end to the quick spreading fires which have popped up in numerous regions. Today, Greece has sent aid in terms of planes and crews to assist the fire department in containing the various fires.
An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the fires. While a few fires seemed to have started due to dry heat and windy weather, police suspect that the outbreak may be in the hands of arson, and have withheld four suspects to further investigate.
