Mobileye joins Intel and BMW

in Economy & Innovation

Israel’s widely acclaimed Mobileye is going to collaborate with Germany’s BMW and Intel.

Their joint aim is to develop self-driving vehicles ready for production by 2021. The development target is to reach a so-called ‘mind off’ level where drivers take their hands off the steering wheel and use the time in their car to work or relax.

For this, BMW is going to provide the cars, Intel the technology that allows connectivity between devices and Jerusalem-based Mobileye will provide their sensing and road experience management technology.

Mobileye’s total revenue for the first quarter of 2016 was $75.2 million, compared to $45.6 million in the prior-year period.
