In our new series “More Swissness in Israel” we will write monthly on topics highlighting the presence and activities of Switzerland in Israel in all its diversity. A little bit of Swissness, in Israel, so to speak. First, we’ll introduce a topic that should be getting more attention, female leadership.
Women have been changing the world since the beginning of time, but more often than not, their contributions go unnoticed. There’s a new podcast “FEMALE FUTURE” that is changing just that.
The podcast tells the untold stories and the unheard voices of women making an impact. Moderated by the Swiss bestselling author and radio presenter Yvonne Eisenring, the podcast, created as part of a cooperation between the Swiss embassies in Israel and Great Britain under the “Wake up” initiative, presents stories of women’s impressive accomplishments, discusses social issues and modern feminism, takes a look at contributions of women in diverse fields, from arts and innovation to science and politics, and even connects different participants and their cultures to one another.
Three women from Israel are already represented in these exciting conversations with the Swiss hosts, in just the first few episodes. In the episode “Black Feminism,” the activist Tigist Mahari, who immigrated to Israel from Ethiopia when she was young, discusses why she no longer has the strength to explain to men and Caucasians what life really looks like for Ethiopian Jews living in Israel. In the podcast titled “LGBTQ+,” Reut Nager talks about her work for the Tel Aviv city administration and her work in a feminist NGO that aims to strengthen the rights of lesbians in Israel. In the podcast episode “Food,” start-up founder Dr. Michal Bitterman, talks about sustainability work in Israel.
More riveting episodes from women are on their way.
