Israel Sends Aid and Equipment to India

in Health & Science

With a massive wave of COVID-19 hitting India, lack of equipment, organization, and manpower to treat the hundreds of thousands infected daily, Israel is jumping on board to support the country in crisis. With over 2.1 million cases in the last week, and 400,000 infected daily is an onslaught that no country could handle on its own. On Tuesday, Israel’s Foreign Ministry has scheduled planes filled with necessary medical equipment towards India, and the StartUp Nation Central has called on all companies working with India to resource and support.

IsraAID, a well-known humanitarian aid organization that serves countries in crisis, has already done so in 17 countries during the COVID outbreak, and India is next on the list. CEO and Founder Yoel Polizer states that the “scale of the crisis currently unfolding in India is simply overwhelming.” The organization is sending medical equipment and oxygen supplies and is exploring other necessary gaps which could support India to better manage its resources. Working with the on-ground Israel-India students association, the NGO is also launching a self-care mental aid program for frontline health workers in need.

Polizer says, “With life in Israel returning to a pre-pandemic “normal”, it is crucial to remember our shared responsibility to partner with communities facing the worst of it. The pandemic will not be over for anybody until it is over for everybody.”
